FTP I: The Complete Firearms Safety and Pistol Marksmanship Course 4 hrs. Duration This course is designed for the active shooter as well as the non-shooter. The objectives of this course are to teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the safe and proper handling of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. The 4-hour course includes training and information on gun parts and operation, ammunition, loading and unloading procedures, grip, stance, proper sight alignment, basic shooting positions and fundamentals. Other topics covered include: the care, cleaning and maintenance of the firearm, malfunction clearing drills and techniques, optimum selection of weapon, ammunition, holsters and other accessories. This is an excellent introductory course for those contemplating the purchase and use of a firearm. No pistol license is required. Dr. Miller is a Defensive Tactics Instructor for Law Enforcement Agents, and a Certified NRA Firearms Instructor for both Law Enforcement Agents and civilians. He was the Chief Firearms Instructor for the GunPoint Pistol Academy. Dr. Miller is a former Range Officer and Firearms Instructor for the Township of Huntington, New York and a former New York State Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, trained by the firearms instructors for Protective Services (Secret Service) of Presidents Gerald Ford, George Bush Sr. and Ronald Reagan. Dr. Miller attended and graduated from the Law Enforcement Developmental School at the Burlington County Police Academy in New Jersey. |
