FTP V:  ADVANCED PISTOL COMBAT

PERSONAL PROTECTION COURSE

18 hrs. Duration

This course is designed to teach you how to use a handgun in a home or self-defense situation rather than in a competitive or recreational sport-shooting environment.  The course starts with the 4-hour FTP I (The Complete Firearms Safety and Pistol Marksmanship Course) and includes segments from both FTP III (Combat Handgun Intensive- the Revolver) and FTP IV (Combat Handgun Intensive-The Semi-Automatic Pistol).  Two hours of additional classroom lecture will teach you how to avoid or control a criminal attack, how to take a criminal suspect at gunpoint, tactics for home defense, low-light shooting techniques with and without a flashlight, psychological preparation for violent encounters, and how to deal with the aftermath of a violent encounter.  The Advanced Combat Shooting Live Fire Segment is 12 hours.  A New York State Pistol License is required for the Live Fire Range Segment.  Targets, handouts and a personal protection manual are included in the course fee.  Students are responsible for daily range fees, eye and ear protection and 1,000 rounds of ammunition.  This entire course will be taught in 6 sessions.
