FTP IV: COMBAT HANDGUN INTENSIVE: THE SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL 10 hrs. Duration This course emphasizes obtaining handgun skills using the semi-automatic pistol. The course starts with the 4-hour FTP I (The Complete Pistol Safety Marksmanship Course). It also includes 6 hrs. of intensive one-on-one range instruction and training in live fire practice. You will learn: safe handling of cocked and locked single action autos, to master the first shot in a double action semi-auto, speed reloading and tactical reloading, weak hand draw and fire and one-handed reloading techniques with either hand, malfunction clearing drills, and firing from behind cover. A New York State Pistol License is required for the Live Fire Range Segment. A range fee for the Live Fire Segment and targets are included in the course fee. Students are responsible for bringing their own eye and ear protection and 500 rounds of ammunition. The course is broken into three separate sessions: FTP I (one 4-hr. session) and Live Fire Range Segment (6-hrs. completed in two 3-hr. sessions). Dr. Miller is a Defensive Tactics Instructor for Law Enforcement Agents, and a Certified NRA Firearms Instructor for both Law Enforcement Agents and civilians. He was the Chief Firearms Instructor for the GunPoint Pistol Academy. Dr. Miller is a former Range Officer and Firearms Instructor for the Township of Huntington, New York and a former New York State Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, trained by the firearms instructors for Protective Services (Secret Service) of Presidents Gerald Ford, George Bush Sr. and Ronald Reagan. Dr. Miller attended and graduated from the Law Enforcement Developmental School at the Burlington County Police Academy in New Jersey. |
